Girl Fight is the film everyone remembers when they think of my films.

Made in April 2022, Girl Fight was made for LACHSA's Sundown film festival, and was accepted. The story follows Averi, a senior in high school who is celebrating her 18th birthday. At her birthday party, her old best friend Jamie shows up, who had been expelled from their school for cheating on the SAT. But, what Jamie doesn't know, is that Averi was the one that told the school and had her expelled. The story unravels as Averi tells Jamie that she got into Brown, the school they both wanted to go to. As the party continues, another one of Averi's friends, Carmen reveals that Averi was the one that told the school after hearing Jamie call her a bitch. The two best friends argue, and Jamie storms out.

Girl Fight was my first "big" film that I tackled. I loved the idea, and took a month to write the script. I love dramatic plot lines with huge fight scenes, so this was my perfect movie idea. At the time, I was experimenting with what I wanted to do within film, so I kind of lead every role. I shot the movie over my spring break of sophomore year and it screened later that month at my schools "end of the year" film festival, Sundown.

Overall, this movie means so much to me and I see it as a beginning to my career within filmmaking. Writing, producing, directing, and shooting this movie was a huge turning point for me.

The Godmother was the best collaboration I've ever experienced making a movie.

Made in September 2023, The Godmother was made for LACHSA's 64 Hour Film Festival. The film follows three brothers born into a mafia family. The Godmother scolds them for disrespecting her, and the brothers decide they need to overthrow and kill her later that day at the church. As the brothers all split up, the youngest plans a double crossing, so he can have the business to himself. He convinces the middle brother to kill the oldest brother, and the oldest brother to kill the middle brother. Later at the church, the two brothers pull their guns to kill each other, the oldest getting shot first. The middle brother turns to see the youngest brother pointing a gun at him. The youngest brother shoots the middle brother, and he stands above his dead brothers in victory. For a moment, he thought he had at all, until, the Godmother shoots him in the back. She knew all along.

Every year, LACHSA does a film festival called 64, where you have to write, produce, shoot, and edit a film in 64 hours. This year, I was in a group with 5 close friends, we had done 64 together the year prior. The weeks leading up to the festival, we assigned each person roles within the group, and I took a majority of the work as producer, assistant director, and sound mixer. The festival officially kicks off on a Friday, typically the second weekend in September. This is when each participating group is presented with a mandatory prompt and required elements to incorporate into their films. In our case, our prompt was "The Godmother, The Benevento Family," which was a spin of "The Godfather" and a nod to our department faculty member Adrianna Benevento, whose grandfather had been involved in the Italian mafia in the 1980s.

After getting your required prompt and elements, you receive equipment from the department for shooting, and then your team all goes back to one persons house. As the producer, I noticed problems that we faced last year, that caused us to make a movie that none of us were whole heartedly proud of. I noticed that friday night we were super disconnected, that once we figured out the main idea of the script, we all split up to do our own tasks. This year, I made the point for us all to stay in one space throughout the entire time of us writing and producing. This way, we could talk out every point of each scene, certain lines of dialouge, which actors we were going to use, where we were going to shoot, how we were all getting there, the type of shots we were going to get for certain scenes, and more. This started our great collaboration, and we wrote a script we all loved, found good actors and locations, and worked through it all together. This amazing collaboration continued into our shoot the next day.

On Saturday, assistant directing with my friend Max was amazing, because we worked through every point of the script the night before, it was seamless for us to work together and work well with the actors. By the end of the weekend, my entire team was extremely proud of the film we made and 100% noticed the change in our collaboration. All the tireless effort, sleepless nights, and united teamwork paid off as our film was awarded "Best Film" at the festival. The experience underscored the immense value of meticulous planning, communication, and unwavering commitment to a shared vision. We had not only created a winning film but also forged stronger bonds within our team, setting the stage for future creative endeavors.

The movie I'm the most proud of.

Made in October 2023, Easter is my most recent film. The story follows a little girl on Easter. She runs into her parents room and jumps on the bed to wake them up. They all head outside and she begins her hunt. She runs up and down her front yard, gathering eggs as she goes. On the change between grass and the concrete of her driveway, she trips and skins her knee. The film takes you through two decisions the little girl could have. Through the first decision, she wipes off her tears and the family goes on with their day. The little girl gets bandaged up, continues her easter egg hunt, sorts through her eggs, and enjoys a dinner party with family friends. Through the second decision, the little girl throws a tantrum, she refuses help, doesn't want to finish the easter egg hunt, and forces her parents to stay home from the dinner party.

Originally wrote and filmed for my college application, Easter became a movie I really loved making through and through. I wrote, produced, directed, DPed, and edit Easter, and it was definitely a long process. I've never edited one of my movies before, and it really helped me showcase my creative vision in the end result. I'm so proud of this movie, and I'm so happy with the way it turned out. I plan to submit it to various film festivals, both outside of school and affiliated with LACHSA.

Easter has helped show me how to shoot a movie the way I want it to be edited. me grow my creative narrative.

Made in October 2022, Alphabet Soup is about a young college student alone in her apartment one night. She searches in her cabinet for dinner, and all she finds is a single can of alphabet soup. Not thinking, she pours it into a pot to warm up. She turns on her computer to start working on her homework, and is about to take a bite, when her friend calls her. They talk about school, and she walks away from the soup. The bowl starts to shake and words start to form in the soup. The girl comes back to the bowl, confused. It starts writing more and more words until a hand pops up out of the soup. Scared, the girl throws the soup against the wall. She turns around out of breath, only to be pulled backwards by the hands that came out of the soup.

I wrote and made Alphabet soup for LACHSA's Cinema Scare festival. With a compact and intimate set, and the film's brevity allowed for a focused and efficient shoot, while the confined space added an extra layer of tension to the story. As the writer, producer, director, and cinematographer, of the film, this project was my first genuine attempt at crafting a jump-scare horror narrative. The suspenseful storyline, revolving around a seemingly innocuous can of alphabet soup, lent itself well to creating moments of unexpected unknown. The outcome was a testament to the team's dedication and creativity, as the film successfully blended elements of suspense, surprise, and horror. 'Alphabet Soup' served as an invaluable learning experience and gave me knowledge for me to profit off of for my next films.

Shot in February 2023, then edited in October 2023, I Look Like My Mother follows Marley, an unsuccessful stand up comedian, who's obsessed with stories about her Mom. One night, after performing, she runs into her ex boyfriend Marc. They start talking, and spend the night together. The next day, Marley goes back to preform at the club saying she needs to "stop hiding things." She reveals her dad cheated on her mom, resulting in her mom killing her dad. As she tells the story, it also reveals Marc had a girlfriend, and Marley finds out, and kills him.

Originally, I wrote and shot I Look Like My Mother for LACHSA's Sundown Festival in February of 2023. The writing process was long and stretched out, and by the end of the process I just wanted to get shooting over with. Producing was equally hard, actors were tough to find, and it all felt rushed. I shot in February, and was sick the whole weekend of filming. Following the weekend, I was reviewing the footage, and found that over half of it had been deleted off of my drive. After a few weeks, I reshot, and by that point, I had missed the deadline to submit to Sundown. I still finished the full edit, but it felt choppy. I saved the project for later, and moved on.

The next school year, I wanted to make a cinema scare, but didn't have time to shoot anything, being busy with other films and college applications. I looked back on this movie and thought I could cut and rework it for the festival. My editor and I cut it down to 5 minutes, and it played at the Cinema Scare festival later that month.

I Look Like My Mother was a very pivital moment for me with filmmaking. It really broke down my confidence, I felt terrible about how much work I put into it, and I never felt good about a single outcome until the end. This film taught me important lessons of making sure something is exactly the way you want it before moving onto the next step.

My junior year 64.

I Know What You Did Last Midsommar is a film about a culty group of blonde girls who spend every Midsommar together. In their cult, there's one brunette, and last year, she made the mistake of using the leaders hairbrush, and brunette hairs showed up on the brush. The leader finds the hair, and calls for the brunette to be executed. Instead of falling in the trap, the brunette challenges the leader to a duel. They gather in a field and the whole cult gathers for their mini golf club duel. The brunette struggles, and the leader takes her down.

Made for LACHSA's 64 hour film festival, I Know What You Did Last Midsommar was really fun to make. From start to finish, my team and I were always in good moods. Our prompt was 'I Know What You Did Last Midsommar" and our required elements were a mini golf club, silhouette shot, the character name Earl "Hash Brown" Boykins, a diner, and the line of dialogue "That's the last time you bring that ostrich in here!"

Overall, it was a really great weekend and memory I'll cherish forever.

My sophomore year 64.

Spray Spray, Bang Bang follows Chaz and Rob, two cop best friends. Chaz has been noticing that in their many years of friendship, Robs never really opened up to him, he won't even sing in the car. After failing an arrest, the cops go back to Chaz's house, to find his dog Joker missing. Earlier in the day, Robyn Banks and Miss Beahaven had stole Chaz's dog in order to get the attention of Rob, their father, who didn't know he had kids. The twins call Chaz and tell him to meet him at the park with Rob if he wanted Joker back. The cops and the kids meet at the park, Joker is returned, and Rob is revealed as the twins dad. After an emotional moment, Rob asks the kids if they want to get donuts. They all sing Tiny Dancer in the car.

Made for LACHSA's 64 hour film festival, Spray Spray, Bang Bang was my first ever LACHSA film. Not having a freshman year due to Covid, we started in person classes in sophmore year, and 64 started early. I gathered in a group of people I wouldn't have had expected, and we got really into it. The weeks leading up, and 64 weekend was so fun and was a great kickoff to film at LACHSA,

Filmed in July, then edited later in October, Bernie has a special place in my heart. In this 7 minute short documentary, my grandma tells the story of meeting her first husband Bernie. She talks about meeting him at a dance, and he took her home. They went on a date and he was interested in her, while she wasn't. She says "he wore a hat the whole time, I swear to god I thought he was bald." He kept calling her, and so she went on another date to be able to put him off, but she ended up loving him. They later got married, and she got pregnant. One day, when she was about 4 months pregnant, he went golfing with his friends and collapsed on the green. He passed away that day.

When I orginally filmed Bernie, I didn't know that this story would come from it. I filmed 5 hours of footage of my Grandma telling her life story while I was visiting her in Philadelphia over the summer. I kind of ended up forgetting about the footage for awhile, I had kept telling myself I would "watch it later." A couple months pass, then in my documentary class, we were given an assignment on doing a documentary on a subject. I remembered I had all this footage of my Grandma, and picked through until I found a clear story. I could listen to her talk for forever. One day, I hope to edit all 5 hours together.

FRIE NDS GIVING

Made in November 2022, Friendsgiving is a short documentary style montage that my best friend Liya and I made. We wanted to capture a cute, wholesome night with our friends. Friendsgiving starts with Liya and I planning the night, making invites and sending them, and planning the food. I pick Liya on the morning of our friendsgiving, and we take a trip to Trader Joes and another little grocery shop in her neighborhood called Cookbook. Liya and I go back to her house, and we set up the living room with a big table, lay out plates, out candles. We then start cooking and get ready for everyone to arrive. Our friends Elton, Pascal, and Wolfe arrive first and Vicky, Molly, and Celia trickle in after them. We all enjoy the dinner, say what we're thankful for, play games, and laugh.

Filmed for my documentary class, Friendsgiving is a doc my friends and I love to look back on. We filmed on a little camcorder and used it for 3 days straight. I love this film because it's an amazing memory and keepsake to have for the future.

My directorial debut at LACHSA.

I made Killer Pictures in my sophmore year for LACHSA's Cinema Scare festival. Killer pictures was my first solo film, although I still leaned on my friends for a good amount of help. Filming this movie was a great experience, I had an all female crew, and we were able to make a movie while having so much fun. The set is a really amazing memory, and a cute movie.

Made in October 2021, Killer Pictures follows siblings who are obsessed with murders. One day, they notice the light on at their abandoned neighbors house and decide to investigate. While searching the house, they enter an empty room with a dark room. From the dark room, emerges four of the worlds larges serial killers. The siblings are tasks with naming the killers suspects to escape.
